PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT: [To Top]

Along with the privilege that you have earned with your hockey ability goes the responsibility of maintaining excellence both athletically and academically. In order to achieve the best experience possible, players are expected to contribute both on and off the ice. The following guidelines for conduct are intended to establish a basis for an enjoyable and successful season.

1. Players must maintain academic and financial eligibility as outlined by the Strath Haven Ice Hockey Club and the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District.

10. The player should obey all team and club rules and regulations.

11. The player must agree to abide by the Discipline Code.

The following infractions by a player will be sufficient cause for disciplinary action that could result in dismissal from the Club:

1. Use and/or possession of illegal drugs.

2. Drinking alcoholic beverages of any type.

3. Smoking.

4. Stealing property or equipment.

5. Malicious destruction or damage of any property, including locker rooms, meeting rooms or any place used by the club for any club function.

7. Continued absence from practice.

8. Insubordination.

9. Failure to follow the dress code, if any.

COACHES CONDUCT: [To Top]

The coach and his assistants are exclusively responsible for player selection during tryouts. In addition, the coaching staff develops the hockey skills of every player, as well as the team orientation that is important in building character. Attached to this position are the responsibilities and obligations:

1. To establish and communicate team rules at the beginning of the season, and to enforce and abide by these rules.

2. To continue to strive for coaching excellence with year long teaching.

3. To provide support, understanding and public approval of the club, team coaching staff and personnel.

4. To provide the team with an ideal role model image that can be respected and valued.

5. To treat the players equally, fairly and respectfully. They are chosen as part of your team, and should be assimilated and disciplined within a team concept.

6. To maintain proper team discipline at all times.

7. The head coach should provide a coaching staff for each team in the organization that reports directly to the head coach. Assistant coaches are approved by the Board of Directors.

8. The head coach should be prepared in advance for each practice in order to maximize the effectiveness of the club's ice time.

9. The head coach should be responsible for his/her assistant coach's performance and conduct.

10. The head coach should maintain a high level of communication with the Board of Directors.

11. The head coach is accountable to the Board of Directors for his/her actions and the actions of his/her staff.

12. The head coach should be responsible to have coaches at every game.

13. The head coach should be responsible for enforcing the obligations of coaches and players as outlined in the Club’s by-laws.

14. The head coach should have regular staff meetings throughout the season.

PARENT CONDUCT: [To Top]

Parents as well as relatives and friends are encouraged to attend all games and other activities. Also running a successful team requires much more than the coaches and team representatives can possibly do. Volunteers are always needed, so please try to help in any way you can.

Parents are also encouraged to get their child to games and/or practices on time.

Naturally, the conduct of the parents reflects on the team and the Club. While unacceptable behavior on the part of a parent is never expected, parents are reminded that any repeated such behavior could result in your child being dismissed from the team without any recourse or refund of fees. The following are some reasons for immediate suspension of a player and parent. This list is not intended to be a complete list of offenses, but rather to establish the spirit of the policy:

1. Fighting or any physical abuse of the coach, team representative, club official, other parent, or game official.

2. Repeated verbal abuse of any of the above.

3. Providing any member of any team with alcohol or any controlled substance.
